The Program and Curriculum

In a home-like environment, children from 2 and a half to 6 years old will spend about 3 to 6 hours per day through a series of activities with a native Chinese teacher. All activities are conducted with the teacher’s guidance and cooperation in Mandarin Chinese. All subjects are spoken in Mandarin Chinese, so children learn a 2nd language and culture the same way they learn their first language. Our teachers are experienced and specialized in early childhood education. Activities include:

  1. Playing games and working with educational items including Montessori materials.
  2. Reading children’s books about art, science, history and Chinese culture.
  3. Learning music and singing children’s songs.
  4. Listening to and telling most popular American and Chinese children’s stories.
  5. Watching children’ educational and entertaining videos such as “Ni Hao, Kai Lan!”.
  6. Coloring, painting and doing other art and cultural projects such as paper folding, paper cutting, and performing and participating Mini Tea ceremony.
  7. Celebrating American and Chinese holidays, including Chinese New Year, Lantern Festival, Moon Festival, Double Ninth Festival, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving, Halloween Day, Birthdays etc. Special activities are conducted to celebrate these days and children are encouraged to celebrate in their own way.
  8. Visiting and learning about animals including the school’s ponies, chickens, pigs and rabbits.
  9. Making friends with others and learning how to play and work with others in a group.
  10. Enjoying alone time if a child choose to do so.
  11. Students participate in a "Mingle with the World" program. In this program students have opportunities to communicate with children from our sister school in Beijing China. They can work on the same projects or share their project results through internet or mail with help from the teachers.
